One of my favorite places to go for beer in KCMO. Right on the edge of the Power and Light district, holding its own among all the other bars. 100 or so beers on tap at any given time. They have a club you can join where you get a place on the wall if you drink enough beers over time.

They offer probably all of the beers available through their distributer in KC. Plenty from California, Colorado, Michigan, Kansas and Missouri as well as European offerings. Many IPAs, stouts, lagers and other ales.

Food is simple, but delicious. They have wings and sandwiches and pizzas. Also a hummus with a bit of kick. Try the saucer Bratzel (a large soft pretzel with sliced brat pieces and melted cheese) or ask for a "pick-your-pie" with their Mojo sauce instead of red with chicken. Yum!

Just down the block from Gordon Biersch was our final stop in KC, The Flying Saucer. We had been told to try this place from several people as well as the high rankings on Beer Mapping and KC Beer Blog. Despite a serious lack of room left in the old gut, I felt I could probably fit a little more beer in my esophagus. We sat at the bar in easy sight of the large bank of taps. Some of the things on tap were not on the chalk board or the written beer menu, so ask your server what's new! We had excellent service and they had samplers available for us to split and get to try many new beers. The walls are lined with plates, some with quotes from the frequent flyers here who have tried a certain number of beers (200?) Somehow I expected kitchy UFO and alien decor, but I like this more. I enjoyed the mix of imports (sours, Belgians, German) as well as local and more broadly distributed beers. Tap lines seemed clean as well...a potential issue with having that many beers on tap! Despite being right in the middle of Club-Central this place was more of a large pub with folks socializing over a couple of craft brews.

If you are in KC and like beer, go here.

It can get busy on Friday night, but tends to be a bit more mellow on Saturday night. If you want to shoot the shit with the bartender and talk beer, get samples, etc go when it's not busy.

Last time I went there they were out of about 7-8 of the "100" beers they have on tap, which kinda sucked, but then again you have 90+ other options, so I'm not going to ding them on that.

If you've never had Young's Double Chocolate mixed with a sweet Lambic, this is the place to do it.

The food is fairly good also.

Woo-hoo! more taps than you can count. Their beer menu was 3 pages long, sorted by style. I was there on Sunday local selections were $2 a pint. The menu had great selections, they seemed to feature German food and standard bar fare. The staff was great. The two bartenders were young ladies who blew me away with their depth of knowledge. I also joined their Club, it keeps track of what you have tried there and you can interact with you data and their selection through a self service kiosk, Brilliant!
