My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. We only stopped in for a couple of pints and got to taste the amazing cask ale. My wife generally drinks lighter beers, sometimes fruity one but she loved the cask ale as much as I did. They had 3 on cask and more than 5 in kegs. This is more of a local place but is defiantly worth checking out. They are starting to serve food, but only microwaveable items, nothing very substantial.

In my opinion McNeill's is the true heir to the legacy of Catamount Brewery (Forget Harpoon). Ray McNeill Brewed at Catamount before starting McNeill's in '92. As a reminder of the VT craft brew tradition the tap tower is the original carved wooden catamount head that once graced the Catamount tap room, pretty bad ass. McNeill's brew is generally pretty simple, heavy on English Malts employing some west coast styles and hops right there on the mighty Connecticut River. The pub itself has a nice old world feel, dark wood, darts, and the last time I was there, they were having a Celtic jamboree. For the last reviewer that was unhappy that they didn't have food, I'd recommend the Flat St. pub (great beer bar) before hitting McNeill's.

Stopped in on the way up to Killington hoping for a bite to eat. Disappointed that they dont serve food, but at least they said we can bring food in from the restaurant next door. The beer is hand pumped and brewed well. I had the red and it was amazing. There is parking a block away in a parking garage. The interior was a bar and a bunch of tables but nothing much else.

This brewery is right in Downtown Brattleboro not far off of I-91. This was one of my many stops on the Vermont Brewery challenge. Without a doubt it has it's own style. Set up like an old tavern with long tables to sit at and multiple cask ales on tap it's truly a unique experience. Their cask ales are served a little warmer like they should be. The bartender seemed very friendly. They don't offer any growlers but they have bottled beer to go.

I live about an hour 1/2 south of Burlington Vt. My wife and I have been going to Mc'Neill's for a few years now and it never disapoints. All beer is brewed by Ray Mc'Neill, who can usually be found in the brewery sipping pints. I think beer is still $2.75 a pint. There are usually 10-12 beers on tap all of them brewed on premises. There are usually 2-3 cask conditioned, pulled directly from the celler. This place is probably our favorite brewery of all time. It is a real Vt brewery, and has a laid back vibe. It is a fun place to spend time sipping pints. There is not much to do here except talk to the locals and drink. The bartenders are super cool. Steve (Tom Petty look alike) is the greatest bartender. There is a really great hotel (The Latchis) next block over, so if you have a little too much to drink you can spend the night in an art deco hotel. There are some really cool places in Burlington. Worth checking out.
