Ok, so I love Mountain Sun in Boulder. This place opened up and has become my favorite on-site beer quencher. Falling Rock is now #2.

Great atmosphere here. Hippy to be sure, but not 'in your face'. They do not brew there, yet. About half of their taps are Mountain Sun and the other half are guests, and some darn fine ones. Nothing bad with the option of getting 8oz glasses. That's nice.

Food is pretty good too. They always have something quirky on the menu and happy hour is very nice.

Located just east of Downtown, Vine Street is in a part of Denver that is experiencing a rebirth of sorts. It is an offshoot of the Mountain Sun Brewery in Boulder, CO. Because of that, it has very much of a 'Boulder Light' vibe. The presentation of Vine Street is very similar to Mountain Sun, with a wide open seating area populated by lots of wood benches and booths. But there is much more space and everything feels newer and cleaner than its sister to the Northwest. Plus, there are two patios for patrons to use on nice days. With all that wood and no interior walls, there is almost nothing inside that absorbs sound. The place gets quite noisy with big crowds.

Service here is interesting. I had one primary server, but was helped by three different people. The staff is more efficient than friendly. Everything came quickly, but with minimal interaction.

Beer selection is good, considering that everything is on tap. There are no bottles to be found, which bothered me not. Alongside the five regulars were about a dozen guest beers from other small breweries. Most were Colorado brews, but they did have a couple of Deschutes beers and one English import when I was there.

Food was of good quality, and portions were very generous. I had a Black Bean Burrito that was quite tasty and a friend of mine picked up one of their sandwiches. The cheese fries we got as an appetizer were a little too soggy for my tastes. Nothing here seems to stand out as a must have, but the selection is nice. Vegetarians take note. Because of its Boulder roots, Vine Street has a lot of vegetarian offerings on the menu. Non-meat eaters will not go hungry here.

Food prices here are great, given the quantity of food you get for your money. Beer prices seemed a little lower than other places I've been recently.

The only odd thing here is that they don't take credit cards. And if I hadn't been told ahead of time by my friend, I never would have known, because there wasn't an obvious sign anywhere indicating that. In this day and age, not taking credit cards is almost inexcusable. There is an ATM in the back, however. Still, I imagine more than a few people have been caught off guard.

Overall, this is a nice laid back pub. I'm sure I'll be back here many times in the future, cash in hand.
