Devil's Den is a pale brick street corner building located three blocks northwest from Philly's original cheesesteak hotspots (Geno's & Pat's). They have several patio tables along the sidewalk. Inside, there is a 20 chair wooden bar, and a column fireplace separates the bar area from the dining room. With 17 taps and well over 100 in bottles, Devil's Den has an excellent offering of craft beers. They have an eclectic selection of national craft brews, and particularly feature a variety from local breweries. Wonderfully, they offer sampler flights of certain combinations from the draft beer menu. There was a wonderful aroma from the food, and the menu includes mussels and a great variety of sandwiches. I really like this place.

On Saturday, Aug. 15th, we embarked on a LONG beer day in Philly. This was our last stop... We were told by someone that they were doing a Sour Beer Tasting... They had eight sour beers on tap that you could get a flight of... If you're familiar with Belgian Sour Style beers you can only imaging how great this was... We will definitely be going back here in the future to give the "regular" beers they have a chance. I can't even tell you what they had on tap other than the sours!

I love this place, though I'm biased because I live a block away. The food is for the most part great, great mussels, tasty oysters, good burgers and pulled pork. Stay away from the cheese fries, they're pretty disappointing.

The real deal here is the Beer though. They have 16 rotating taps with a nice mix of local microbrews, domestic craft beers, and imported heavyweights (Leffe, Schneider, Chimay, Delirium, etc..) and they have a couple hundred more in the bottle. And the waiters generally know what they're talking about and make solid recommendations.

Especially of note is their half off drafts happy hours from 5-7 daily. They have a bar menu during that time that is tapas style small plates too, though honestly I've been pretty disappointed with the happy hour menu items. I would stick with the regular menu.

I've gone there a dozen times, and will continue to go for a long time to come.
