This Bar is Awesome. Last I was there they had installed 18 taps at their newly remodeled bar. This selection rotates as they find new Specialty beers. More taps have gone in since my last visit. The owner, Howie, is passionate about great beer and articles from the local papers are posted about the bar's story.
They Host Beer Paring dinners. The food is excellent(5) and matched with a different beer for each course. Went the the Brooklyn Brewery Dinner and it was great. The Brewmaster came and presented each pairing with information about the style of beer, the flavors the food accentuated, and history about the brewery. When not hosting a beer dinner, the food is OK. Pizza and sandwiches (3). My ratings below reflect an average night at the Cock and Bull.
The Staff is friendly and if you know what flavors you like they can usually pick something from the 600 different beers in the glass front refrigerated cases, or on tap, that is exactly right. Various seating is available: Pub tables high and low, large and small; at the bar, inside or out; at the picnic tables, on the covered deck or the grass; or on the cushioned 1/4 kegs and logs around the Bonfire.
Early there are sometimes families. Often there is a dog with their owner. There is live music outside. This is a must visit in Sarasota. I was shocked to find this great bar and very happy to frequent. You will see me there in November.
