I've heard a lot about this place with some glowing reviews, so I was curious to get over there.

Went on a late Friday afternoon and the place was fairly busy for an early happy-hour crowd.

Beer selection was okay - Founder's IPA, Goose Island Honkers, and then the rest fairly standard issue - Guinness, Great Lakes, etc.

We got the hummus appetizer which was fine, but no other food.

When I asked the server what the Goose Island was, she said, "I don't know - they change those around so much, they don't really tell us"

So basically it's a good bar, great atmosphere, but only a slight step up from the run of the mill macro beer bar.

Paxton’s is a quaint neighborhood bar and grill, located right next to the Little Miami Bike Trail. It is somewhat a locals’ hangout, but it also is mixed with bicyclists that are stopping in for a cold beer. This is one of the friendlier watering holes on the trail, and definitely worth the stop.

Paxton’s has an average sized serving area accompanied by a decent sized bar, nothing big and overbearing here. This place offers a good selection of US microbrews and imported beers on tap. On a nice day, you can sit outside in a front-side seating area. Here you’ll find about 7-10 tables that can seat about 4 people each. Inside is roomier, but not really a large expanse. Rarely have a waited for a table, but Paxton’s is becoming more and more popular. If not, there is always room to stand around by the bar.

The bar and a couple tables are all that occupy the main bar area. There it is pretty cozy, and easy to watch any sporting games that might be on. While not a sports bar, they do have most of the channels and will always have the local game (Bengals, Reds, UC bball/football, Xavier bball) on the television. On weekends, there is usually live music by local musicians. Overall there is a casual atmosphere to the place.

The beer selection is good and it’s worth visiting. They are usually rotating in a new microbrew tap, so the selection isn’t old. Wish I could say the same for their food. While it is quite good, the menu hasn’t varied much in the last few years…although they have started serving breakfast which is great for starting a Saturday morning.

There is plenty of parking in the back of the building, but you’ll have to walk around the side to go in the front door. Smoking is allowed outside, but not inside (this is Ohio).
