Agree little tough to find and very crowded on a very cold friday night. No samplers. Nice beer list. Tried an IPA and wife a porter. This IPA was delicious! The hoppiest out of all 10 breweries we visited. Still not portland style but well hopped and balanced and close to NW style. Probably my beer of the weekend. However, had to stand at wall rail and wife was tired. Could see this as a good sunday session place. People with dogs-again a asheville quirk seems dogs welcome if food not served-and having fun drinking well brewed beers. If I come to asheville again I will spend more time here. Oh-got scooted away from front of bar by bartender-seemed they wanted to keep clear-I felt guilty for even attempting it but I guess makes sense. Young but tolerant crowd-happy place.

The Wedge is a little difficult to find I parked on the street and the door right beside me said the Wedge and pointed upstairs as I entered I soon found out I was in an art gallery so I went outside and ask a couple that were walking down the street where the place was they said go to the end of the building and then down the stairs. The place was very crowded with lots of folks enjoying there beers, playing corn-hole, sitting around talking, and getting food from a food truck. The day had been a nice one so the overhead heaters were doing a good job keeping the clientele comfortable. There was music playing but with all the activity around I did not even notice it.

Located in in the River Arts District, The Wedge is one of the local breweries in Asheville. In addition to some of the best beer being brewed in Asheville (be sure to try The Golem), The Wedge has a wonderful patio to enjoy the sun while you have a few beers. Great service and atmosphere have made this one of the top beer destinations in Asheville. It's also a great place to bring your kids and dogs... be sure to get there early on the weekend if you want a seat on the patio.

I gave the food a 2.0 because occasionally there is a food vendor set up serving food.

During the summer, they also show movie on Saturday evenings.

Wedge is a bit hard to find. It is tucked away down the dirt path beside the RR tracks. You can park on Roberts St. and walk down the stairs, but it is better to head away from the bridge on Roberts, turn right after the Wedge building onto Lyman and then immediately right again onto the path. You can then park at the outside seating area.

The inside is nice an spacious for a tasting room. Long angular tables allow patrons to plop down and enjoy the view of the rows of fermenters. No food, well, peanuts. Also no smoking inside, or at least none during my visit. I suspect this place might be a little chilly during the winter with a single overhead heater, but it was comfortable despite early summer heat. The music comes from a Bose Wave and while not the most hi-tech the sound fills the space.

It is not quite fair to judge selection at this point since only two beers were on at the time of the visit. More are coming: Pilsner, Golem, Maibock, Wit and Pale Ale should all be flowing by mid-July into August and they plan to have 7 to 8 styles year round. A stout is planned for the Fall.

Pints are $3.50, Growlers are $13.50 and refills are $10.50. Pitchers are $10.

Service was top notch during my visit. I plan to return often.
