I see ol' Lang Creek is still showing up on beermapping. I know this placed closed in 2009 and that I've reported it here, but maybe it's a sign that this bygone brewery deserves a review before disappearing. Advertised as "the world's most remote brewery," they probably didn't get too many passersby down this section of Highway 2.

First, the high value for selection is exactly why you'd expect. Going from personal papers and whatnot, I call tell you that this place brewed Sky Diver Blonde, Fish On Summer Ale, Glacier Pilot Winter Warmer, Tri-Motor Amber, Sopwith Camel London Ale, Old Pilot Porter, Cherry Porter, Stealth Stout, Mandarin Orange Hefeweisen, Huckleberry N Honey, and Zeppelin Imperial IPA. I know I had at least one other test brew that wasn't labeled.

The building itself wasn't much to tout about, but it was on their own airstrip. If you were parachuting in (yes, it happened during events), you might score the atmosphere higher than someone just stopping on for a growler.

Service had to be high as well because during my visit, the one brewer talked to me the entire time except when a local came in for a growler. He was a character, too, always offering his own ideas on what the brewery should be doing. One point I remember if that Lang Creek always brought the Mandarin Hefe to brewfests when he thought they should be bringing something more exotic.

Good times. All I have now is a growler which has been retired and a T-Shirt that gets worn when I want to show some old school cred. The rep from New Belgium called me out on it in June at the Coeur d'Alene brewfest this year.
