Butte has to be one of the best historical drinking towns in America. It was once the biggest and most prosperous towns between and Minneapolis and Seattle. Mining town, Boom town, now one of the most polluted and gutted towns of the rockies. Butte's St. Patty's day is considered one of the rowdiest in the world and walking down Venus alley (old red light district) after having a few PBRs at the M and M, you can start to feel those angry old spirits. Great freakin drinking town. The long history of Butte breweries includes Centennial and Olympia, now those is only Quarry. The location and bar are perfect, knowledgable beerkeeps and lots of games/ literature. Their flagship Galena Gold is a shout out to their Butte yellow beer roots and is very easy to drink. I'm not sure if they have food.

Chuck and Lyza have established a great 'speakeasy' in uptown Butte. Chuck is very passionate and particular about his beers. They usually have 4-5 of their regular beers on tap and a seasonal selection. Being the quarry brewery within sight of the mines of Butte Chuck has maintained a mining/geology theme to the naming of his beers: Open Cab Copper, Shale Pale Ale (my favorite), Open Pit Porter, Head Frame Hefeweizen. Sandstone Stout, Galena Gold..... obviously a great variety for all tastes. All beers are crafted according to traditional german brewing methods ..................A GREAT SPOT !!!
