Had Happy Hour drinks and snacks at Backcountry Brewing. The Berliner Weiss was nice, although not sour (in my opinion). It was low in alcohol and very drinkable. The amber was good and the IPA was really good. The nachos were done well with chips, cheese, beans and guacamole (the guac was extra), Our waiter was very knowledgeable about their beers. The view from this 2nd floor location was great. I would go back here again.

Only stopped here to get some bottles to go -- I didn't sit for either drinks or food so you can take my numbers with a grain of salt. IPA, Wheat, and Amber, especially, were all excellent (should have bought more!). I liked the interior and the second-floor location overlooking the water was nice. The waitstaff were very accommodating and friendly, it would have been great to stay for lunch if I'd had the time.

I usually stop here for a beer or two when passing through. They have downsized in recent years and no longer occupy the lower floor of the building. I liked the downstairs bar area and although the upstairs is nice it lost a bit of atmosphere with the change.

Beers are good. Nice variety and usually a special or two. IPA very good and Bark Beatle Brown was good also.

They do bottle and have beers to go as well as Party Pigs.

Service has never been bad but in the afternoon sometimes you have to look for a bartender as they are doing "chores" and sometimes disappear.

It is obvious that someone has gone to quite a bit of expense on this establishment. Beautiful location in the mountains looking out over Dillon Reservoir. The interior is done in a "log cabin" style. Behind the bar are placards describing the beers available. These are VERY informational and include the ABV and IBU of each selection. The beers themselves are good to quite good. With none being exceptional but none being disappointing. All in all a nice place to stop by for a beer is you have a lot of time on your hands. I say this because the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The most stunning example of the many things that were unacceptable is as follows: I was sitting at the bar and had just finished my first beer. The bartender came by, grabbed my glass, walked down to the other end of the bar, cleaned it, dried it, put it up on the shelf, and then went back to talking to the only other person at the bar. I have never been in a brewpub where I had to beg for beer, and believe me, I will never return.

Stopped by on the way to Vail back in September. Easy to find. We got there a little before noon, and most people were watching the game in the bar. We were seated and ordered a sampler. I ordered the BBQ sandwich.

The beers were good. The Wheat beer was great, and the breakfast stout was excellent. I should have skipped the sampler and gone straight for the stout.

Service was good, delivery was fast, and the food was very good. It's too bad I only get to Colorado every decade or so. I want to come back here.

Backcountry Brewery is my idea of a brewpub: great structure, on Main street of a mountain town, outdoor seating on a second floor for a great view, high-quality food and great beer.

I enjoyed the Telemark IPA (twice, actually) and a great noon meal. The Red looked good, but I was enjoying the Telemark to such a degree that I stayed with that. I'm not a big 'taster' guy (I can't judge a beer from one mouthful, please) Service was average but the atmosphere, location, views and food combined such that 'Flo' from Mel's Diner could have served us and I wouldn't have hardly cared.

Annoyances: I don't live closer. Also, the 'gear' (shirts, hats, etc) were a bit pricey
