Defiant Brewing is located a small industrial park, in an area that has several taverns and restaurants within a short walking distance. Park in their small lot, or along the street either free or metered. The building is tan stucco with a saw tooth angled roof. Enter and there are stored kegs on the left and sacks of raw material on the right. Straight ahead on the right is their long 21 chair wooden bar in front of a row of large copper brewing vessels. On the left are a row of high top tables, and in the back are two rows of stainless steel fermenters. The floors are concrete, walls are white cinder block, and ceiling is open to the wooden beams. This creates a stark industrial atmosphere. Beers are available by glass or growler, unfortunately no sampler flights, and they have a few choices of 750mL bottles for sale. They have 11 brews on tap, half are inexpensive flagship brews, and half are pricier premium craft recipes. I tried a few of their beers (3 Fingers IPA, Muddy Creek Lager, Magnus Pango Barleywine, and Xmas Belgian Noel Style), which I found flavorful, hop forward, and impressive. For food, they offer a few snacks such as cheese and jerky, and in the evening they offer BBQ. The service was lackluster and unsympathetic when I asked if they served sampler flights, and the bartender was uniquely resistant to offer sample tastes. The service was slow, and you may be surprised at the end to discover they only accept cash (no signs to indicate this). True to their name, Defiant challenged my patience, and I regret not being able to try more of their brews.

at defiant you get to pull a seat right up to the kegs and stills they pour the beer from.. IF youre looking for a glamourous brewpub, this isnt the place for you. Its a plain bar/brewery that servers great beer. They have recently begun offering BBQ and homemade beef jerky. THe prices are cheap for NY. IT does get a bit warm inside so be warned. They also have a beer club where you can buy more of their rare beers like death. Overall this is a must stop place if youre in Rockland NY. The brewery is literally at the pearl river train stop for the metro north. So its very easy access from NJ/NYC
