About 6 months ago (March 2010) Ashley's in Westland added 21 more taps to the 20-ish they had before, bringing the grand total to 40-something. The servers have become increasingly more knowledgeable about beer. Some are even really helpful. They don't seem to be serving beer in ice-frosted glasses anymore - a big plus for craft beer drinkers who actually want to taste what they are drinking. Also aiding in the taste of the beer is the fact that Michigan has banned smoking in almost all public buildings including bars and restaurants. Unfortunately their selection can be somewhat single-minded. Understandably in the summer they have more wheat beers and IPAs. But last time I was there, they didn't have a single stout or porter on the list. Out of 40+ taps, not one "dark" ale. Hopefully with time, they will be able to strike a better balance.

The food at Ashley's is ok. Not great, not horrible. Decent burgers, round pizza is good. Appetizers and desserts are very reasonably priced, especially during happy hour.

The beer and food menu has definitely gotten a lot better from when they first opened. At first it seemed almost exactly the same as Uno Grille that occupied the building before it.

Went for lunch on a Friday with my mom. Ordered a Short's Autumn Ale and a Burger with Blue Cheese, Bacon, and Sauteed Mushrooms. She ordered the Fish and Chips.

The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. We went a little after 1pm when the place was empty. We were seated in a booth by the bar. The bartender took about 15-20 minutes to take our food order because he was more interested in chatting with waitstaff than working. Every other time I've went the service has been great. All of the other staff I've encountered has been quick and friendly.

Best choice for craft beer in the area that also has food. I'd go here before heading to the Box Bar.
