This person needs 3 or more reviews on the site for their scores to start counting.

Every one must stop here . . . .
You will take a quarter of an hour to choose which beer to drink ! ! !
On ground floor you can find about twenty two beers tapped.
At underground floor more then 2000 beers on their list !!
You can find it walking around the center: it is at the end of a little dead end alley.
PS: Delirium Cafè is open until late at night, unlike other locals.

This place rocks!! It is in a little alley just off of what I call "restaurant row" in Brussels. We stopped at one of the many outdoor restaurants to have a traditional Belgian mussels dinner and then headed to Delirium Cafe. We got a seat at one of the large barrel tables for four and went crazy. The selection is ENORMOUS! Over 2000 beers. The waitress we had was great and she just kept the beers coming. I have never had so many belgians in one setting and I was able to enjoy every one, surprisingly. The decor is interesting as well as they had American brewerania on the wall with beer trays from the northeast (I'm form Pittsburgh). I will defintely go back the next time in Brussels. Yes, it is loud as others have said but well worth it for the selection of rare belgian's and the fun atmosphere.

I agree with the previous posters. This place is a required stop for the beer tourist.

You are warned that the basement is just plain noisy and maybe when I was younger I would have enjoyed it more. However now that I'm older and it really is about the beer I prefer the ground floor. Still the place was a bit busy and seemed to have transiet crowd, trying to be hip.

If you prefer mellower evenings, have a stop here early, have one or two rare ones from the list (or ask the bartender for a recommendation) and move on.

I completely agree.

A MUST see for any wandering brewhound in Brussels.

One important note to mention is that not only is the beer menu EPIC. But it also covers multiple vintages of many of the beers. For instance. I saw 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, AS WELL as the 2005 vintages of Westviterlan 12.

That is NOT to say that they still have those vintages still available. The remaining options should more than satisfy even the most adventurous among us.

One night when I was there I was nearly smothered by the cigarette smoke. I am told that there is no longer any smoking inside public places.

I was also a little surprised that there were "children" there. In fact it was a kind of armature night of live music. One of the drummers was about 14 and really thumping the skins.

After all, I do come from a very repressive society.

All in all a wonderful location. There are plenty of restaurants near by Delerium as it is walking distance from the Gran Plas.

Is there such a thing as too many beers on the menu? The Delirium Café puts this to the test with its record-breaking selection of 2000+ beers.

The menu is a heavy affair, made up mostly of small print and arranged by country, though drawing you in with big colourful images of the proprietors' Huyghe beers. You will find something you haven't had before.

A stock-in-trade this size does present a bit of a logistical problem at the bar, and you'll find the barman will ring in a few orders before taking the till chits into the coldroom to harvest the relevant bottles. He'll then spend a few more minutes searching around for the appropriate glassware, as only the correct branded glass, mug or half-coconut (Mongozo, natch) will do. Thankfully there's always a dozen or so quality Belgian beers on tap if you don't want to wait for this ritual to be played out.

The bar is in a dark basement, lined with breweriana (the ceiling is all bar trays, for instance), and it can get a bit touristy and loud. However, if you can find space in the corner, and your own copy of The List, you can spend an enjoyable few hours getting steadily hammered, I mean, educated.
