Back Road Brewery is a small brewery with local roots. On a given Saturday you can find 20 or so people hanging out at the brewery, talking drinking and having a good time.They brew about a dozen beers with 5 or 6 year round beers. Back Road Ale is their flagship beer. The Belle Gunness Stout and the No9 Barleywine are great beers. They brew a Christmas Ale that is different every year, and goes pretty quick. Chuck and the crew are always willing to talk or answer questions about their beers and brewing process. They do an annual Fall Fest with German oompah band and other regional brewerys as guest.

Back Road Brewery is a 7bbl brewery located in an old brick building just a couple of block of highway 2 in downtown LaPorte. The entire operation is housed mainly in one room. Chuck only opens on Saturday afternoons, between 1 and 4. He normally has three or four beers to serve, and the beleive they run 3 bucks a shot, unless is is high gravity. The bump it up a bit on those. Parking will never be an issue here. There are usually some chip and salsa, or sausage and crackers out, but that's it for food. The beer is good for the most part. Sometime they make a really great brew, sometimes some stinkers. Certainly well worth a side trip if you are passing through.
