Baltimore's original Pub Dog Drafthouse opened in 2001 in historic Federal Hill neighborhood, and in 2007 Pub Dog opened a second location in Columbia MD. In 2006 DOG Brewing Company began brewing in Westminster MD, and this main brewery now produces for both Pub Dog locations. The drafthouses feature the "Dog Deal", buy-one-get-one-free 10 oz mugs of their house beers, and most of the craft beers are also available for sale in 22 oz bottles. Most of Pub Dog's brews are just average, but they have a great variety. Some of their decent beers are Amber, Blond, Black (Irish Stout), Brown (English Style), and White (Wheat). They also have a steady offering of fruit beers, Blueberry (my favorite), Peach, Raspberry, and Cherry. And for hop-heads like me, by far the best of their ales are "Hoppy Dog IPA" and "Imperial Dog Double IPA" (6.8%). The Columbia location has a long bar with 20 fixed-stools, table seating, and a shuffleboard table. Their menu includes a couple dozen varieties of decent thin pizza. In addition to trying their beer, have a traditional shot of Grand Marnier to contribute to the halo of 100's of bottles that decorative the pub.

In a strip mall, brewpub is relatively small with black interior and hardwood floors. Long bar runs length of restaurant with booth seating on raised level behind bar. Atmosphere is pretty loud. Menu is almost exclusively pizza.

Had both the pale ale (Hoppy Dog) and their seasonal ('double' IPA). Both beers were okay, but did not distinguish themselves from one another.

Promotion was currently underway for discounted refills in plastic cups. Good idea from a cost perspective, but unfortunately the character of the beer suffers.
