Had to go out of my way to get to this one, but I'm glad I did! Very nice place, and really is in the middle of nowhere (but I'm betting the locals are very happy its there!).

The beer selection was very good, and everything seemed very solid. I tried the amber ale, very well balanced and drinkable. The IPA was very good as well (I think I took a growler of that home). The brown ale had a nice roasted complexity too it, and I'm guessing that was a popular one...I saw the bar-tender fill half-a-dozen growlers with it while I was there.

The bar-tender was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable about what she was selling. The menu seemed interesting...I had the mushroom cream soup, wasn't overly impressed with that, but they had a few other things listed that sounded good.

It is a bit out of the way, though, and only 2 lane highways to get there. But if you like good craft beer and a laid-back atmosphere, it will be worth the effort to check this place out.

This person needs 3 or more reviews on the site for their scores to start counting.

Went there on a Saturday night (8/28/10) for something different. Got there at 10:00 just after the band stopped play. Say what?!?!? I think they spent more time setting up and tearing down than they did playing. Nonetheless, this is a nice neighborhood place to go. And to have a place that brews their own beer in such a rural place has to be a treat for the locals.

As for the beer, I had the altbier, which was to style, but not outstanding. My date had the wheat beer, which was also tasty but not outstanding. People started clearing out after that so there was no food sampling :-(

One odd thing - the waitresses were for food only. You had to go to the bar to get your own beer. They also did not clean the tables very quickly from the previous patrons.

This is a very interesting place...for being located in the middle of no where. However, the beer was good (had the sampler) and a pint of the IPA. The IPA was very tastey and the bartenders are very friendly. The atmosphere shocked me though...very modern. The place was packed when I arrived at 5pm and was still full when we left at 8:30pm. It's worth the trip to visit. The cask ale was out at the time of my visit but all the other beers were available.

I love this place, and wish it were much, much closer -- although that would ruin much of its charm, I suspect. First: beer is great. Tim the brewer is deeply experienced, and I've been drinking his beer in various places for years. Having him wind up here is just magic. The atmosphere is a fantastic combination of Vermont and central PA: relaxed, tolerant, friendly, and small town self-reliant. Service is friendly and quick (usually: it was a bit drifty one lazy afternoon, but you know? So was I that day, so...), food's very good. Cool little town, gorgeous area, sustainable and locally-grown food, great beer. May have to move here.

A little jewel smack-dab in the middle of nowhere! Beers are excellent, ranging from a light ale to a strong ale. The IPA is not an in-your-face type but very good. The porter is outstanding so I had no problem taking a growler along. The food looked and smelled great and I would have loved to eat there but had other plans. The place is very nice inside and filled up rapidly. Definitely worth another visit or eight! Next time it will be for dinner. Check out the hours on their website as they have rather short hours. Off the beaten path but if you've got nothing to do.....

Have visited twice since this review. Food is good and the beers are excellent. Damn, I wish the place were closer!
