Beer Crazy is a new homebrew shop/beer store in Des Moines, Iowa. Around a month after opening, they’ve got a good selection of beer on the shelves, as well as a well-stocked walk-in cooler. On the other half of the store, they have a solid array of homebrewing supplies. I'll admit to not really checking out their equipment much as I was primarily after some beer, as well as a few grains. The had what I needed outside of the constraints of the Hop Shortage. Reasonable substitutions on that front. Mark, the owner, was friendly and helpful throughout my visit.

New on the scene, the only high gravity beers in stock when I visited were the Chimay offerings. In time, he hopes to bring in a better assortment on that front, but for now, Iowa’s goofy beer laws have his selection a little restrained on the bigger beers.

Easily accessible just off Douglas, and with plenty of parking, I’d strongly encourage everyone to support this location, for both beer and homebrewing needs.
