Was a patron of this establishment for many years but laying my bias aside...decent selection of beer, but due to a lack of vision patrons started mixing their beers and added to enhance their variety... Ramber is a mix of the red and amber that is more than decent...good food and atmosphere stay away from late night they start blaring south park way too loud.. the happy hour is a good value however the quality has been suspect...

Definitely enjoyed the trip to Hoppy Brewing. Its located just outside downtown Sacramento, about three miles. The brewery has plenty of on site parking available. Also have a decent sized patio on the front of the brewpub.
The inside is relatively large with the bar located in the center of the main room. Plenty of TVs to watch around the perimeter. The service was very quick.
We ordered kettle chips to start. Had 4 good dips with it, including really good homemade ranch dressing. Very interesting ketchup too.
I tried special ravioli, it was excellent, although an unusual choice for me at a brewery.
Sampler was really good. Cream Ale and Amber Ale were both really good. The Black Ale was by far the best beer on the menu.

I enjoyed my visit to Hoppy Brewing Co.
The service was great and the beer was great. I look forward to visiting again. Enough said?
Well, for a more complete review, their beer is grouped according to color (lights, mediums, darks). I tried their two medium drafts. They were hoppy and strong, my kind of brew. I sipped a friend's dark, it also very good. I didn't try any light beer, but i would imagine it was also up to par.
The food is excellent, the waitress was real friendly and the crowd/atmosphere was great.

I've been in Sacramento since college days (over 30 years) and have watched the breweries and brewpubs come and go. Hoppy came to Sacramento about 10 years ago after making its name in San Jose. I was hooked on Hoppy soon after it established itself here, and it has remained my absolute favorite for two main reasons: the Stony Face Red Ale, and the Fettucini Creole (and a variety of Cajun predecessors). The food surpasses all of the other brewpubs in town in sheer flavor (although the now-defunct Sacramento Sudwerk would have given Hoppy a run for the money). The service is great, and there is a variety to its seating arrangements, from nice little outdoor bistro tables (if the weather complies), to a seat right in front of the large screen television for sporting events, to semi-quiet out-of-the-way tables at the other end of the pub, and family tables in between -- not to mention a very friendly bar with all the prime stuff on tap. My only down side is that I moved 30 miles away and it's harder to keep Hoppy my regular haunt. But still very worth the drive!

Nine beers were available on our visit, all brewed here. The two we tasted were both quite good (Total Eclipse Black Ale and Hoppy Face Amber Ale).
The location itself is essentially in a strip-mall and there’s nothing terribly unique inside and yet it still has a decent pub vibe. The bar area is quite large. It extends from the entrance all the way back to the brewery (visible through windows). On one side is a long wooden bar with tall chairs, and on the other a lot of tall tables and chairs. The two sections are divided by a half-height wall. There is a dining area with a large fireplace to the left of the entrance. The ceilings are tall, and the floors are painted concrete. Several TVs with sports playing are throughout the space (sound was on at the bar; loud “background” music playing elsewhere).
There’s a comfortable outdoor seating area in front. The big green umbrellas, grape vines, and other plants do help mitigate the parking lot ambiance.
The offerings on the food menu look like standard pub fare (lots of cheese and fried foods, burgers, sandwiches, etc.) but we didn’t try anything so can’t comment further on or rate the food.

Located close to Cal State Sacramento, this place does attract from the college but it’s also a local, family friendly brewpub. There is a good size bar area with adjacent tall tables, plus two large dining areas with tables and a fireplace. A small lounge area with big screen TV and comfortable seating looks into the brew room and there is outside table seating by the front entry. There were 7 standards plus two specials on tap when I visited. I sampled the Cocoabock and Cream Stout specials but also enjoyed the Stoney Face Red and Total Eclipse Black Ales. The menu includes a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, pizza and pasta as well as some upscale entrees for dinner. There is limited parking in front and a larger lot out back.
