My wife and went to Hofbrauhaus on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside to get away from the smokers inside. The server was very friendly and attentive. I had a spinach salad and my wife had a club sandwich, both of which were very good. Beer selection is limited with 4 selections brewed on site. I had the lager and my wife had the dunkel, both of which were very good. We had the apple strudel for desert which was excellent. The parking was free.

Hofbrauhaus in Munich Germany is perhaps the most iconic of all great beer halls, and starting in 2003 the franchise expanded to the US. As of 2011, there are 3 US locations (Newport KY, Las Vegas NV, Pittsburgh PA) that are modeled in architecture, service and fare after the original. The beers are brewed under the close supervision of the home brewery in Germany. The standards offering Lager, Dunkel and Light are each average very drinkable beers. My favorites are the Weizen, Hefeweizen, or Bavarian Wheat, depending on the seasonal offering. Judged against other American brewpubs, I can't give very high marks, because the beer offering is rather limited in scope (no IPAs). But for a cultural dining experience, enjoy the authentic German cuisine with a stein of your favorite German beer. The Newport location is a brown one story brick building, just a block from the river overlooking downtown Cincinnati. Look for the blue and white German flagpole in their small dedicated parking lot and listen for the German polka music. Inside, there is a 17-chair 2-sided wooden bar. Behind it are two shiny copper brewing vessels, and adjacent to the bar is an enclosed brewhouse with the stainless steel fermenting vessels. The large dining area has bench style community seating. The place has German decor and flags against white brick walls with black wood trim. In the main dining room is space for a live music band, and there is also a separate dining room. Past the bar is an exit to a small enclosed gravel patio with a blue and white awning roof. There are several picnic tables and a small walk up beer service bar. One nice thing about this location is that they serve a sampler flight of their brews in cute mini lager mugs. The food menu is authentic German cuisine plus a few German inspired American dishes. The service is cheerful and the staff wears cute traditional German beer hall attire. For its scenic and festive atmosphere, Hofbrauhaus is a must-visit if you're near Cincinnati / Newport.

The Hofbrau Haus is located across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. It is located in a somewhat upscale shopping/eating district in Newport, KY. Overall, due to its location in a more upscale area, it is a bit pricey in comparison to most brewpubs.

It is a very good re-invention of the real Hof Brau Haus in Munich. Similar to the version in Germany, this place has long benches at the tables, a polka band, the full line of Hof Brau beers and a very extensive German menu. Overall, the food quality is quite good. They have an excellent selection of different varieties of sausage.

I've only been to the Hofbrauhaus once as I was passing through town, but I thought it was great. Service was prompt and the food was great. I thought the prices fit the amount and quality of the food you got. I've definatly paid more for less of both. I was with a buddy who had been to the original hall during Octoberfest in Germany and he loved the place. The Munich Weizen was good stuff and very tasty. Definately something to check out.

As authentic as a German beerhall in American can be, the Hofbrauhaus was the first of its kind in America, but it is no longer the only Hofbrauhaus in the USA. While it doesn't come close to the atmosphere of the original Munich (Munchen) Hofbrauhaus, it does its best to mimic not only the wonderful food and beer, but also the fun, friendly German experience...and YES they have “Polka” um pa pa bands playing anything from the Chicken Dance to the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith on request. The place is pretty mild mannered for an evening dinner, but after about 9pm, on the weekends especially, this place can get rowdy….in a good way of course. Tables are long, so everyone can sit together, and after a maß or two, you’ll definitely meet some new best-friends.

The Hofbrauhaus operates as a small brewery, so the beer is brewed on site and served in both the outdoor beer garden and inside the beer hall. The Bavarian dishes, including bierwurst, bratwurst, and schnitzel, are the traditional favorites, but they also offer standard fare like chicken and pasta.

Parking is plentiful, whether self parking in the lot across the street or next to the building (good luck finding a spot there on the weekend) or you can drive up and chose the valet option.

This person needs 3 or more reviews on the site for their scores to start counting.

Fratboys of all ages slamming steins of overpriced beer on wooden benches. Personally, in a brewpub, I prefer a neighborhood ambiance to a kegger atmosphere. But others might disagree. The Hofbrauhaus located across the Ohio River from most of their customers in Cincinnati, Ohio in a newly sprung development along the river levies in Newport, Kentucky. Taking advantage of the view of lovely Cincinnati while taking revenue from Cincinnati I dislike their product, location and clientele.

First off, there a bus route that runs both sides of the Ohio river. We took it from our hotel in DT Cincy and it dropped us off right at the door.

If you are looking for a place to have quiet tasting of top shelf beer, maybe this isn’t the place for you. The Hofbrauhaus Newport is a beer hall/brewpub/German restaurant/beer garden, complete with an Oom-Pa-Pa band and it can get a bit rowdy.

The beer is pretty good, served in small or 1 liter mugs. (It’s a beer hall… go for the liter) I usually start with the Dunkel, then move onto a seasonal beer, which happened to be a Maibock.

The food is great German fare…. but both the food and the beer are expensive.

The Hofbrauhaus Newport is great to spend an evening, but be careful if you are on a budget.
