I’m really not sure what to say here. Yes it’s a brewpub. Yes they really seem to be making an effort to brew some good beers. They had half a dozen on tap during my visit. But St. Augustine, at times, is overrun by tourists. Many of the patrons seem to have just finished a pirate-themed booze cruise and don’t really care about good beer. On our visit, the hostess said it would be about 75 minutes to seat two for dinner. Fortunately we able to jump on two seats at the bar and had a reasonably nice dinner and several good beers. Perhaps the atmosphere is better during the off season. As Yogi Berra said, “Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.” Ditch the crowds and walk a mile down to Bog Brewing.

My wife and I visited A1A Aleworks on St. Valentine's Day, 2010, while on holiday. A Sunday night.

It was busy. We were seated within 15 minutes.

There were 5 standard beers: a lite lager, a pale ale, an amber ale, a porter, and a stout, all about 5+% ABV. And, one seasonal beer: a Belgian Style Golden Ale, 9.5% ABV. We had two of the Pale Ale and BSGA; both, very good.

The service and food was good and the food was served within the 'expected' window of time.

The experience was very good. I would eat there tomorrow

Good place to eat and grab a drink while touring through very historic St Augustine. Really an excellent seafood restaurant.

Overall for a place that features seafood, I was actually impressed with the stout choice here. Apparently this is owned by Gordon Biersh, a brewery I am generally not a huge fan of, but this place was not bad at all.

Definitely a decent place to try if you are on the east coast of Florida.
