I found Nicholson's during my first business trip to Cincy in Nov 2006. I was so impressed that I made sure to go back there (twice) on my next trip back in 2007. I remember they do offer cask ales, which was really cool. I believe they offer four beer pairings, so you can try a wide variety without having to drink full pints (and stumble into work the next day).

If you are going to Cincy I would recommend Nicholson's above and beyond any other place I went to in the city. The area is fairly nice (Theater District) and easy walk from any downtown hotel.

Nicholson's is a Scottish themed pub in Cincinnati's theater district. Upon entering, you enter the pub, which has a long center bar surrounded by booths. The bar is a beautiful dark wood and the backbar is stocked with a wide selection of single malt scotch. The taps are spaced out around the bar, so that first glance of a half dozen taps, is only a fraction of the story. Beyond the bar, the restaurant extends further into the back. (much further) The dining rooms are beyond nice, I'd go as far to say elegant.

Nicholson's serves a wide variety foods with a nod to it's scottish inspiration. The fish and chips are among the best I've had. Fine scottish treats like cock-a-leakie soup and scotch eggs join scottish twisted menu items like scottish spring rolls.

Service is excellent. On my most recent visit, our bartender went so far as to stuff olives with blue cheese for my friend. Recommendations were excellent.

Nicholson's beer selection leans heavily toward it's highland theme. Belhaven Scotch Ale, and Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, and Pub Ale (house beer brewed by Sam Adams) were among the taps. Two cask conditioned ales were available; Brew Dog's Stout and Cane & Ebel. Bottle selection was strong too.

This is an excellent place. It's very much an upscale pub, but very comfortable and friendly.
