The town of Edwards is home to two breweries, conveniently close to I-70, making it a nice place for a quick visit. Located in a shopping complex with several buildings, Gore Range Brewery is a standalone one story brick building. There is ample space for parking. The entrance is flanked by wooden posts and a corrugated steel awning, and overhead is their name in yellow and wooden letters. Straight ahead inside is the square island bar with 17 chairs. The bar is stocked with shelves of glasses and liquor, and in the center is a stainless steel tap tower. They have just 4 house beers on tap, which are available by glass, sampler flight, or growler. The house beer is clean and easy drinking, and my favorite was their IPA. They also carry a couple guest draft beers and a few in bottles. Past the bar is the glass enclosed brewhouse with midsize stainless steel brewing vessels. On the right are a few midsize stainless steel fermenters, each labeled with the bubbling brew inside. The restaurant has wood and tile floors and a black ceiling. Cedar colored wood trim is everywhere and the architecture is accented with a stone wall and fabric light shades. Around the bar are several high top tables, and televisions for sports. There is a spacious dining area, and a very nice back patio with umbrella tables surrounded by greenery and boulders. The real draw of this place is the food. Their fabulous menu consists of expanded pub appetizers, a good variety of salads, sandwiches, wood oven pizzas, and a variety of meat, seafood and poultry entrees. Wonderful smoky aromas emanate from the pizza oven. The staff is pleasant and proficient. The restaurant has a nice, family friendly atmosphere.

Nice place just off of I-70. We usually stop by for one beer as we are passing through.

Beers are good. Nothing spectacular but all I have tried are good.

Very nice building with nice patio area. We are usually there in the afternoon and never a crowd.

Bar and wait staff has always been friendly and attentive.

Have not tried the food but always smells great.

Restrooms are downstairs and a little hard to locate on first visit.

After a Saturday training session at our software vendor's office last September, I headed over to Gore Range Brewery to get computer code out of my brain. Like much of the area, places don't have big signs announcing their presence, but this was pretty easy to find. Having had meals in Vail and Lionshead, it was nice to find a place without tourists. It was about 5 pm, and the place was only lightly occupied: a couple on the patio, four of five people at the bar, and a few couples in booths. It took the bartender a few minutes to take my order, but after that he was prompt as could be.

The beers were all good. Nothing spectacular. The honey ale was light and "sessiony." The red ale was surprisingly smooth. There were some hops, but another session beer. The stout was too roasty for my taste, but it sure did look pretty, being dispensed with nitrogen.

Some locals brought in their kids, so there was a nice family feel. If your in Vail, this is the place to visit.
