On a road trip through Canada and needed to stop at a brewery for a bite because that's how I road trip. I arrived during steak night which was ticket only but sat at the bar for a while. The beer selection looks big but not all of their selection is always on tap. Lots of seasonal and turnover on the taps. I had the Sodbuster Brown and it was a pretty decent brown. The Porter was tasty but missing some body. Dungarvon Irish Red was more of a pale ale but still worth a taste. I also had the Ponce de Leon, a raspberry ale, which was missing a bit of malt character but the bartender said it's something that are working on so I give it an A for effort. Overall the beer is Average, but definitely nothing to shake a stick at.

The menu was great. At least by looks. Pizza, sandwiches, burgers, soup and salad. I, however, went straight to the boar burger. Not too gamey but full of flavor. At $15 it was even a decent price! Overall I have to suggest dropping by if in Regina. Parking is difficult to say the least but that's because it's all on the street. And don't be alarmed by the neighborhood, it just looks a bit run down but is actually thriving. Live music next door! And the music in the wakker is all local artist recordings, so ask if you like a song.

I came to Regina to taste the local brews available, what I learned is that there are a few who brew beer and one place that crafts beer. Walking into Bushwakker was a bit daunting as the Roughriders had just won a game, but there was space at the bar and the staff was friendly. The bartender explained that many of the local brewers cut corners and only brew beer as part of their liquor license. Bushwakker on the other hand uses an all grain mash and creates their own beer. On this visit I was able to enjoy their Kai's Munich Helles and the Chinook ESB.

The Chinook ESB was quite nice. The beer had a slight haze and left a slight lacing on the glass as I drank it and rolled pleasantly across my tongue leaving a bitter note as it rolled into my belly. Truly a refreshing ale after imbibing the swill from other local brewers.

Kai's Munich Helles felt a little odd in November, but it sure hit the spot. The appearance of the beer is a pale yellow, similar to an unfiltered wheat or Belgian ale and leaves a slight lacing on the glass. Kai has a light refreshing flavor, perhaps a bit citrusy, and rolls smoothly across the tongue.

The tap list at Bushwakker is long and they have several seasonal's. I recommend you stop for a visit should you find yourself in Regina, Saskatchewan. The beer, food and atmosphere are all worth the journey.
