I have only been here once and was not impressed. Admittedly it was a weekend night and it was very busy and there is a weird club across the hall. I had to stand in line at the bar to get a beer before going to a table, couldn't hear anything, beers were listed on the wall where there was no other information. After we got our beer I went to the only table I could find and no one ever came over to serve us. The beers we had were not very impressive, I believe I had an IPA that I didn't think much of and a fruit beer that tasted like a tin can. I guess I will have to go again sometime to find out why people think so highly of this place.

We have stayed in Duluth a few times and have always been excited to go to Fitger's Brewhouse. This most recent trip we stayed in the Fitger's Hotel, so I was able to walk down the hall to the Brewhouse multiple times in during our stay.
The brewery tour on Saturday was fun, though the tour guide was new to the job. The brewery has expanded fermentation space since last time I was here.
The beers! They had 9-10 beers on tap each day, and had a high turn-over rate during my 4 days of checking in. My wife managed to get the last pint of the yearly Cherry Batch (man was that good!) I got to try all the other beers via sampler and subsequent stops for pints. The batch 3000 was interesting, but tough to drink a pint of, (a black saison aged on bourbon barrel with black peppercorns.) The ESB and stout were really nice.
The food was serviceable pub grub, but they did offer several vegetarian options and some locally sourced ingredients.
Downstairs they have a gift shop and sell growlers. If you live in Duluth they actually deliver growlers!
I highly recommend this place: One of my favorite brewpubs to visit.

I'd give this place a 5.0 for selection but the only time I went there they did not have a porter on tap. It was a beer they rotated in the lineup. So I guess I am bitter about that. I tried their Oatmeal stout, IPA, ESB before settling on somekind of irish-style stout.
That aside, it really is a great taste. I have been to many breweries and they have on of the biggest selections I have seen. Something for everyone. And the beer menu is ever changing from what I hear with different beers being rotated.
The only thing I did not care for was their barley wine. I am usually a fan of barley wine, and this one did not tase very good.

I have been here at least half a dozen times and I think I like this place more each time I go!
Fitgers is housed in revitalized Fitgers Compound, which was once home to the original Fitgers brewery. They have some great old beer memorabilia scattered around the whole complex. If you like brewing and/or beer history, you will love this place.
This brewpub boasts friendly service and a nice atmosphere. It always ahs a decent sized crowd. In fact, I have never seen it less than 3/4s full. The actual bar is quite small and seats about 10 people. Plenty of tables upstairs and on the main floor. Iām guessing this is as much a food destination as it is a beer destination.
Speaking of the food, it is very tasty. Fresh & imaginative use of ingredients. Try the black bean burrito with grilled Ahi tuna (served with some awesome salsa) or a pub burger. The portions are large. Quality and quantity! They have a small open kitchen so you can see you grub being prepared.
They have a nice section of scotch and a nifty little wine list, but they really shine with the beer selection. They offer 10 to 12 house beers to choose from, plus about 4 or 5 guest micro bottles. They also have growlers to go. The beers are top notch with the Big Boat Oatmeal Stout a personal favorite.
I always stay at the attached Fitgers hotel. These loft like rooms are very nice and the views of Lake Superior are awesome. Each room has a book with a history of the Brewery, nice touch!!
What a great place, I am already looking forward to my return!
