Me and a few friends stopped on Granville Island on our way into Vancouver, so a stop at the brewery was a no brainer. We'd driven straight from Seattle to Granville Island, and parked in a nearby parking lot.

Since we were limited to 12oz of beer, we each had our 3 samples. They weren't bad, but nothing memorable either.

By the time we left, we noticed that someone had broken into our locked car and stolen a bunch of our stuff. A couple of us lost our passports, and we lost of lot of valuable belongings (ipods, kindles, cell phones, etc). While we probably shouldn't have left all of that stuff in the car, it really put a damper on the rest of the trip. There were no cops to be found, and even once we went to the police station no one seemed to be too interested.

Summary: The brewery is nice, but given the local thieves it may not be worth the stop.

Visited here last year when I was in Vancouver visiting family. I was a bit disappointed since the day I went the tours were already completely booked up (they only had 2 going per day). Although it is worth noting that this is a very small operation where you can pretty much see everything through the big window next to the tasting area. My understanding is that they only brew the seasonals here with their mainline beers brewed in another location. Since I couldn't tour I did a tasting, the beers I had were all pretty good, and they also had a decent selection of merch. Although like another reviewer said you are pretty limited on the number of samples you can have.

Probably limited by local or provincial law, but you can only drink 12oz of beer on-site per visit. You get either 3 tasters (4oz) or one 12oz glass at the same price you'd pay for their beer anywhere else. They have a good selection of beers that are above average to very good. Maybe its just me, but it actually seemed like their beer tasted better on the mainland than it did there at the brewery.

They charge around $9(CA) to go on the tour, so I didn't.


If you're already on the island (which there's plenty else to do there) it's worth stopping by. But unless you really want to go on the $9 tour, there's no reason to make a special trip here. If you are somewhere that you can buy their beer, most of their varieties are well worth it.
