linkAnother example of good Southern Hospitality. I wanted to complete our Terrapin experience by picking up some bottle "samples". So another taster (who happened to be a branch store manager) lead us through the streets of Athens to this location. He even stayed and visited with DD a while then made her a map to get us back to the highway (guess he didn't know how self reliant we beermappers are). We were able to bring home some Hop Shortage, Rye Squared, Big Hoppy Monster & Wake-N-Bake. If we would have had more room in the car, I would have picked up a few other regional rarities as well. Great store and great selection.

linkI have no idea why I haven't reviewed this place yet as this is THE place to buy beer in Athens. The selection is hands-down the best in town and is certainly on-par with (if not better than) the best stores in Atlanta. 5 Points has almost everything available in GA and if they don't have what you want, they'll be glad to special-order it and let you know when it comes in. Service for me has always been good to excellent. The only time they may not have time to answer questions, etc is during football season when it gets crazy in there - especially the day before and day of a home game. By the way, there are 2 beer sections in this place - walk in the door and go to the right for the main craft section. If you walk in the door and go straight back, you'll see mostly BMC stuff, cases, and 12 packs.
The only slight negative thing about this place is that it's rather cramped sometimes. The reason that it's cramped is that they literally have beer stacked everywhere in the craft beer section. Personally I'd rather have a massive beer selection and narrow aisles than have a spacious "craft beer" section consisting only of Killians and Blue Moon.
If you're beer shopping anywhere around the area, you owe it to yourself to go to 5 Points. Stop here and then go across the street to Aromas - you'll be glad you did.
