I visited this brewery in 2008. While the facility was not glamorous, the people were gracious and very committed. No doubt one of NZ's best brewers - if you think and drink like me. The beers for the most part have remarkable balance. Sometimes they may even get gigged for this. But I think it's great, they have balance and depth. Even on beers that are intended to be hop forward, they find a way to keep enough character in the body so it's not just an oral high pitched whine, but rather something more voluptuous.


Taieri Gorge is a particular nice, hints of dried fruit

I can't believe this brewery hasn't been reviewed yet! Dang, it's the only foreign brewery I dream about! I loved their APA so much that I donated my golf bag to a junior golf program in Dunedin just so I'd have enough room in my travel case to fill it with APA and an assortment of other Emerson's brews. I live in Washington State and drink in Oregon. Emerson's APA is the only beer that can stand up to (or surpass) the Hop Monsters of the Pacific Northwest.
