This place closed its doors about nine months ago. The brewer did a great job and it had some fine beers. The problem was service was mediocre and inconsistent.

This place is about to change name to Kirkwood Station Restaurant and Brewing Company. Highland Brewing Company and Ashville, NC didn't like that they had the same name.
Not and extraordinary place but good beer and worth a visit if you are in the area. If I lived here I probably would make it "my" place.
They serve beer flight which I like. Not all brewpubs do that. It's nice to have beers that are more balanced than the West Coast beers.

Now called "The Highlands Restaurant and Brewing Company"; Alandale Brewing had two owners, one bought the other out a couple weeks ago; with that came a new name. They have a much better selection of beer now and the waitress said it’s all brewed on site. We didn’t get to meet the brewer this trip though I’ve met him during other visits. The menu has expanded and they kept the same head chef; the food was good all around. We sat outside, which isn’t much more than the wide spot of the sidewalk but it works. Weather was perfect for outside but summer days and nights in St. Louis can make it miserable to sit outside. The inside appears to be showing its age even though the brewpub has only been open a couple years. The pub area is no smoking, a rarity for the St. Louis area. The dining area, which wasn’t open, used to allow smoking and doubled as an entertainment area with dart boards (and evening league) as well as pool tables in a neighboring room. Not sure what will stay with the one owner, can’t wait to see what changes are in store for this great brewpub.

Went to Alandale's this evening with a friend. Only one of their own on tap (a "Maarzan"). It was good, but only one??? The atmosphere was mellow for dinner. There was what looked like a band setting up, but after we finished our inclusive sampling (the marzan), we left. The service was not bad.The food was good but they do need to serve bread with their pasta dishes (what will you do with the tasty sauce otherwise).

Alandale probably has the best food of any of the local brewpubs. I was only able to try a couple of their beers, although the pumpkin ale was quite good. The place was relatively empty, and it is not well known in town--the location is out in the suburbs. It really deserves more popularity than it currently gets. I definitely need to make a return trip here to get a full appreciation of their different styles.

My first visit was on Jun 19. The place is not well advertised in the local media or web sites and the official brewery name is not an easy one to remember. This is first class brewpub with great tasting beer. I did the sampler and would have ordered any of the eight by the glass. The menu looked very inviting - I plan to check it out soon. I just wish I didn't live 38 miles away.

nice atmosphere in bar area. 10 beers on tap. all made on site. my favorite was the doppelbock. menu is not your typical bar food. after talking to the server, all of the items are made from scratch. they have an outdoor seating area that we sat at. my wife enjoyed the blackberry wheat-it just won a bronze medal from a local microfest. the IPA was really hopped.
