This bar is an old house converted to a bar about 50 years ago. The interior has been updated a lot recently and is a big step up from where it was. Still has the feel of a typical old bar in Milwaukee. I've been a semi-regular here for too many years to admit to.

The former owner was from Germany and had only German beers on tap. The new owner, Tim O'Keefe from Ireland, has a variety of beers on the 21 taps, and you won't find a single tap with a mass market american lager. Probably half the taps are still German, there's the obligatory Guinness and Harp, then Belgians and occasional micros. Great selection and the lines are well maintained and the beers never get stale. Tim takes pride in the quality of his beers and service.

There’s usually good blues playing on the sound system with live music a couple nights each week. Great food is available most nights and Saturday lunch at moderate to low prices. Sauerbraten, rouladen, sausages, Konigsberg klops (pork and veal meatball), potato dumplings and red cabbage. He has a rib special Thursday night with excellent ribs that he smokes himself and a rib sauce made with rauch bier.

The only complaint I've heard about this place is that it does get pretty smokey at times, especially late at night. There is outside seating if the weather is nice enough.
