I am always looking to support local shops but my experience at the Wine and Beer Emporium has been uneven at best. The prices are very high compared to internet and other local brick and mortar shops I have visited. They offer liquid yeast past expiration (I found samples 9 mo past expiry - you need to check the expiration date) and are happy to take full price for it (which is already on the high end). I have requested notification on when out of stock items arrive. They are either way off on the delivery date or don’t bother calling when the item arrives. The selection is limited, overpriced and given the mediocre customer support (the weekday shopkeeper is often preoccupied with personal business and not very knowledgeable or helpful) I will find another Homebrew shop to patronize in the future.

This is going to be a rough review. This guy opened his store in the middle of Chads Ford Wine Country. So the store is more home winemaking based. Which is fine, but they advertise and communicate through our homebrew club's email list. When I've gone there, their selection of beer making equipment and ingredients is lacking. Yeast prices are out of control. $9 for a Wyeast smack pack... come on... I made an emergency trip down to this store one day to get some grain I had crushed, and they WOULD NOT help me. Even though I was willing to spend about $50 on other stuff. They would not crush my grain... So I will never go back to this store again... Sorry... Can't do it... I never imagined that someone would turn away a customer who was willing to spend a good amount of money just because a couple pounds of grain wasn't purchased there. Well, that's how they want to run the store, so thats that I guess.
