Favorite Beer: Oatmeal Stout

Usually have about six beers on tap. For the most part, they're pretty standard brewpub offerings: A stout, a pale ale, an IPA, a lager and et cetera. Nothing really stands out. But nothing is really bad either. People rave about the food, but I've never eaten there. Prices are right around $5 a pint. If there were a statistical mean for Detroit area brewpubs, Black Lotus would sit right in the middle of it.

Nice brewery located on the corner of 14th Mile in Clawson. Bar looks huge from the outside, but pretty cozy inside. Good size U shaped bar in the middle.

Food selection is very vegan/vegetarian friendly.

Overall, I was very impressed with the beers I tried, all were specials.

Monster Mash pumpkin ale had very good flavor, not over powering in either the pumpkin or spice flavors. I should have bought a growler of it.

Generation X Porter was excellent, very chocolate tasting and smooth. Too good, went down quickly.

Last was the Oktoberfest, a very good example of this style.

Not very busy on a Thursday night but good microbrew enjoying crowd.

Service was very friendly and attentive.

Black Lotus is great. Well needed for the area as the city of Clawson looks to grow.
They have a very good selection of beer. If you're local, they have a Mug Club...makes me wish I were still local. The food selection is OK, the first time I visit it was pizza from an outside location (great pizza!!) the second time they had their own food menu. Free popcorn!

I highly recommend a beer at Black Lotus. Their sampler is actually the same price (per quantity) as a pint.
