Visited ABC - Camp Hill on a business trip two weeks ago. The space is a cool brewpub and exactly what I was looking for. While I was there I wanted to try the April beer, but it's reserved for mug club members only for the first 4 or 5 days of the month, so I didn't get to try (which is mildly annoying, but it's their right to run the club how they see fit).

The two beers I tried, the hef and a stout, were pretty average. I didn't think they were anything special compared to other craft offerings in those styles from other breweries.

The food was OK. They had a burger special that night which used donuts as buns, had peanut butter and bananas on the burger, and I'm sure other stuff I'm forgetting. I passed, but it sounded absolutely crazy!

Appalachian Brewing Company has 4 brewpub locations, all in Pennsylvania. ABC's standard offering of beers is decent and includes light Mountain Lager, crisp Purist Pale Ale, unfiltered Water Gap Wheat, Hoppy Trails IPA (6.2%, my favorite), Jolly Scot Scottish Ale (5.5%), malty Trail Blaze Brown, and robust Susquehanna Stout. The brewmaster at the Camp Hill location also experiments with some really interesting limited release offerings. About once a year, they will create a clever and engaging trio sampler of three related beers for you to compare and contrast. In Sep 2011 I tried their double IPA trio, each brewed with a different variety of hops. In Sep 2012, I tried their multigrain IPA series, each featuring a different variety of grain. The location is good, and the food was great. They have a 20 chair bar, a small area that is their stainless steel brewhouse, and a separate dining room. With a variety of about 15 house brews on tap, Camp Hill is my favorite among the ABC franchise.

Looks like its been awile since one of us has been here. Luckily I found it today.

I stopped in for a late lunch and ended up staying through an early dinner. Nice atmosphere, and great wait staff. I enjoyed a hummis/roasted veggie pita with seasoned house made chips. all very good. I tried 13 different beers here and can say all are worth stopping for again. A shocker (to me and non-wheat beer loving person) was their wheat beer. very light and refreshing, yet not too "wheaty"

The ales were GREAT. Loved the Pale and IPA. I also had last month's Mai Bock and it had a strong Alc start & finish. most all of the standard beers were very good. Lagers were dead on and the heavier ales, browns, stouts were good.

Impressive was, past the standard beers supplied by the big brewery in Harrisburg, they brew smaller batches on site. I lucked into a smapler/taster (10oz each) of three different hopped beers. All well within the IPA range, or very hoppy, but all done very well.

My suggestion is that if you happen to be in the area, this place is well worth the stop.

Pleasant interior with plenty of free parking. Better selection of beer than at the mother ship in Harrisburg, due to a few that get produced from the annual home brewers contest. For some reason they don’t make it to the Harrisburg location. Best of the beers include Watergap Wheat, seasonal Volksweizenbock and Zoiglstar Lager. Very inexpensive growler refills on Tuesdays. All in all not bad, but nothing to make a special trip for either.
