Mad Anthony’s brewpub in Warsaw is located in an old retail building. The building has been nicely remodeled with a large exterior sign and a striped awning along the huge front windows.
The interior has an eclectic feel of old and new. A modern color scheme sits around the heavy wooden bar. Dark wooden booths line the walls in both the restaurant and the bar side. Tables are available in the windows on both the bar and restaurant sides with a number of tables in the middle of the restaurant side.
There is quite a mix of memorabilia in and around Mad Anthony’s. In the bar you will find hunting trophies mounted on the wall along with snowshoes and snow skis. On the restaurant side there are vintage posters and an assortment of art work. Above the entrance is a “Mad Anthony” full sized soapbox racer. If the place had not been quite so busy I would asked how that came to be above the door.
On this visit we sat on the bar side. Our waitress was friendly and seemed to know both the beer and food menus fairly well. I believe there were a total of 8 of there beers on tap. I had a few of their Pale Ales and a pint of the Dry Irish Stout. The beers were served in pints glasses and were the proper temperature.
The two appetizers (nachos negro & four cheese garlic bread) we ordered would probably have been enough to feed the three of us. My friends ordered a sirloin Caesar’s salad and the Buffalo chicken tenders both of which they raved about.
I had the Beef “Stout” Stroganoff, chunks of beef over pasta with mushrooms in a stout reduction and sour cream topped with freshly shredded parmesan cheese. Yes, it was delicious. The food kicked ass and was not your run of the mill brewpub fare.
A majority of the people that I must assume to be the locals were having the deep-dish pizza there. I may have to try that the next time I’m in town.
This place does have some street parking available and a 25 car lot around back. There is available WI-FI and children are allowed on the restaurant side.
One thing that I did notice there was that many of the people were drinking mixed drinks or bottles of Bud, Miller, and Coors products or their “light” counterparts.
Additionally, there was a band playing there on the Saturday night we were there and on Mondays all pints are only $1.75.
