There's no doubt that the Gnome has the best tap selection in the Twin Cities. The food is really good, and service is usually pretty good. Howefer, everything is really expensive, and you get the feeling that they're trying to exploit a strong beer consumer market. $7 for a 5.1% Surly Coffee Bender in a 10 oz glass? If you don't mind blowing some cash, it's a sure bet, but for my money I'll be down at the Pig.

This is a bar with an amazing selection of craft and import beers. They have a daily drink menu that is 4 pages long. They usually have a beer on cask and know how to take care of them. Best beer bar in MN.

Not only that, but the food is serious too. Upscale dining and not cheap, but amazing food that will make you want to lick your plate. Last night I had coffee and pepper crusted venison loin cooked to perfection, served atop swiss chard with wild boar bacon. There are always 4-5 cheese options as well, fun to try with various beers.

Upstairs is a room they rent out for events and for their monthly beer dinners.

LOVE the Gnome! Since the Muddy Pig started slipping the last few years, the Gnome has picked up the slack. How many taps? Seriously? And I can get a flight for only how much?

The Gnome has a strong focus on American Micros, but they keep enough other beers on tap to satisfy anyone. You can even get a Miller Lite for that one doofus in your group. The prices lean towards the high side, but the flight prices lean towards the low side.

The food is fantastic, although the menu is a bit upscale for casual bar dining. The patio is beautiful; I personally like it best in fall when it just barely starts to cool off.

The service is good, although it seems they could probably divide the tables amongst the staff a little better. I've frequently seen one waitress busting her ass running all over the bar while three others lounge in a corner.

Still, more than any other bar in the Twin Cities, I've had more beers at the Gnome that I've never seen anywhere else.

After hearing about Firkin Fest I wanted to check out this place. Very restaurant oriented (dressed up servers who don't seem to swear and know their stuff). The drink menu was a bit much to take in 350 bottle selection of beer and 45 taps including a Surly Firkin that day (plus hundreds of whiskies). The draft list changes daily so, I have been coming back. The food is dynamite! You can go with a bison burger with the guys or the entrees were are fancy, delicious and my wife loves the food. A beer bar that the wife will always want to go to. Thank you Mr. Gnome.
