Zipps has a very good selection of beer and is usually very busy due to the proximity to 2 university campuses and a vibrant neighborhood. That said, it is sometimes hard to get to and doesn't always attract the most desirable of customer. Another edge that Zipps has is a very useful Twitter account which tweets out when they get certain beers in stock and sale information. If I am looking for a beer, I'm usually pretty safe to find it at Zipps. One knock is that their sales are usually just old beer that needs to get moved, although what beer store isn't like that? I did buy a bad bottle of an import there once, which is just a reminder to check dates and don't trust that since it was in a cooler that means its good.

I visited this store after leaving The Blue Nile one night which is just down the road. On first glance, I was impressed with the inviting exterior and decided to head in. The store is well lit and has a nice attached parking area so I didn't have to walk far.

This is one of the nicer and more complete beer selections I've seen in Minneapolis proper with a staff of knowledgable beer connoisseurs who are passionate about beer and appreciate fellow BA's. The service was good (they carried my purchase out for me), the store was clean and well stocked, and I left with some great brews to enjoy that were reasonably all priced.

The wine and liquor selection was impressive as well.
