The Hopvine is in the Capitol Hiil neighborhood in Seattle, which is one of the densest residential areas in the city, but the Hopvine still has a neighborhood feel with friendly fellow customers and staff. The space is long and narrow. It has high ceilings and large windows at the front and back. There is a curved wooden bar, a music stage, wooden tables and chairs, a wooden bench along two sides and a few booths towards the back on one side.

The beer is superb here, well-kept and varied. All beers on tap (11 taps) are microbrews and often something you won’t be able to find elsewhere. The beers are listed on a chalkboard as they keep changing.

The food is also quite good. Despite a small kitchen, there are always several delicious soups made in the pub. In fact, on our last visit, several customers that seemed to be regulars made a point of recommending we try the soup, and it was truly wonderful and fresh. There are also interesting sandwiches, salads, and pizza.

We’ve only been to the Hopvine a couple times, but it’s owned by the same people that own the Fiddler’s Inn and the Latona, two of our absolute favorite pubs in Seattle. Both times we’ve been to the Hopvine, we’ve felt it was the same kind of beer-loving, comfortable, welcoming place to hang out.
