Heroes Pub is a grey stucco building with dedicated parking. With its neon lights and parking lot, I had the impression of a biker or dive bar, but the interior has the feel of a sports bar. Enter and the bar is on the left, high top tables in the center, and dining booths along the walls. The long wooden bar is copper topped and has 15 chairs. True to its name, the walls are decorated with first responder badges, photographs, and fireman hard hats. There are numerous overhead televisions and a couple dartboards. Impressively, they have about 50 beers on tap, and a small bottled beer offering. Several are common bar pilsners, but most are popular established national craft beers. There's nothing too rare, but it is a decent selection. The food menu is expanded pub fare with something for everyone among the appetizers, salads, sandwiches and several entrees. The service was adequate. Although 50 beers on tap is tempting, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this place. But if you do go to Heroes, I think you'll enjoy your visit.

Not in the middle of nowhere, but not exactly on the beaten path either. Be sure to check the driving route before heading out. It's not difficult, but I can see people being easily confused. Parking right at the building is very thin, especially when it's busy, but there is a lot of parking along Riverview Ave. The building itself is somewhat plain on the outside, with a large sign with a red maltese cross. The place isn't hard to spot once you're on the correct road.

Going inside you're surrounded by a mostly wood interior. A long bar is on the left, along with booths on the right. Tables sit in the middle. A couple arcade games are toward the back, I noticed one was equipped with a plastic rifle. I never identified the game, but I don't think it was Pacman. Large widescreen LCD TVs are strung up around the walls - behind the bar and above the booths.

The place can get somewhat loud when it's busy, especially when the TVs have sports on and the college sports fans make it in. It can be about average for a bar when it's busy: you don't have to scream but it's not the best for a conversation. Still, I enjoyed the atmosphere. It's the perfect place to hang out with friends to catch a game or just catch up.

The beer selection was expansive, but nothing rare or spectacular. There was still a great selection of "microbrews" on the menu, local to Maryland but reaches out as far as California. There is also a draft section for imported beers like Guinness. Don't expect a Belgian Quad, they mostly have English styles (which is fine... not every bar needs to be a globetrotter). There is also a selection of the bigger domestics like Budweiser. I was a little dissapointed when about five of the beers I requested weren't available. I don't know if this is a regular occurrence, or if it was just bad timing. The price per pint was reasonable, with a little over $5 per glass.

The food is bar food. Fries, burgers, sandwiches, chicken fingers, etc. Nothing fancy but also very enjoyable.

Overall, a good place to come and hang out, and maybe watch some sports. There is a good selection of beer, but if you want something extreme or rare you're better off going into or up to Baltimore. To be fair, not all places need to be like that, and I think this bar serves its purpose well. Recommended.
