Where do I even start! Constantly refreshed tap handles, cask beer, outstanding food, excellent service, and awesome people. I cannot really add much to the previous two posts, other than Churchill's is the premiere bar in North County. There is no doubt about it!

I think when you have an owner committed to the establishment and engages himself into the local beer community, great things happen. Ivan has done an incredible job putting together different programs: brewery nights, dinner pairings, meet the brewer events, and rotating food menu offerings. When you have out-of-town brewers making a point to come in and visit Churchill's when they are passing through town for a day or two, there really is no better recommendation than that! There is no other place in North County that combines beer quality / selection of food as well as Churchill's. Don't waste your time finding somewhere else in North County that can match this offering -- because it doesn't exist. One stop here, and you will understand why people love coming back. Enjoy!

The only thing I can really add to the last revue is that it has only gotten better since...

Alright, maybe I can add a bit more than that.

Taps are now at 22 or so with a constant rotation of fine craft and specialty brews. Plus a strong list of standards which in most locations would BE the specialty list! You can get traditional American beer in bottles for the friends/family you bring if you wish...

The bottle list has expanded to over 200 I believe and the food menu has grown as well. You can also purchase for carry-out. The artisan cheese plate, Special soups/chowders are especially nice this time of year (or any!).

Ivan has added dinner pairings and his most recent was with a Master Taster from Jack Daniels in attendance. His next is to be with Deschutes Brewing I believe.

This is a full-service establishment with a full well, back-bar and table service.

The only caveat is that this is a Pub...not a TGIFridays type trying to do a pub "scene". If you want a real bar... dark where it needs to be, loud on occasion and packed with folks there to enjoy life..then this is the place.

There is also a dining area, small beer garden with fire pits, three resident league dart teams, Plenty O' plasmas for the football (English or American), sponsored pub crawls (via limo bus), & inadequate parking which makes it all the more worth the trouble to get into (park in back after normal biz hours).

If you want to be surrounded by people who know their beer (and many who brew professionally), then this IS the place in North County...

P.S. - I have marked all fives for the rating. Food and Beer are objective and have earned it. Service/Atmosphere is more subjective. This isn't strip retail or a chain. It is proper care in a proper atmosphere for what is being served on both sides of the bar.

If you happen to reside in, or are visiting Northern San Diego County, then Churchill's is a must. Ivan Derezin, the working owner of Churchills, has done a great job assembling one of the best beer selections around. There are always 20 taps flowing, and casks are tapped on Thursdays. Owing to a big British clientele, there are always several British and European beers on tap. In addition, there are several micros and local on tap, including Stone, Lightning, Green Flash, and Port Brewing. The is always a Belgian or Belgian style on tap as well. As if 20 taps aren't enough, Ivan has assembled an incredible bottle list, featuring over 150 of the worlds finest (and rarest) brews. The only thing better than the beer is the food. Don't let people tell you that English food is boring. Churchills has the best fish and chips this side of the pond, as well as traditional pub fare like Pasties, Scotch Egg, Tikka Masala, and Guinness stew. Don't worry, they have great burgers and sandwiches if you're not an Anglophile. all in all, Churchills is a terrific pub experience.
