7 of their own on tap, plus a guest tap. I need to put this place in context. Several people have told me that La Crosse has more bars per capita than any other city in the US. I have no way of verifying, but there are a lot of bars here. And there are a bunch with extensive, well-selected collections. It’s easy to get a good beer anywhere in this town. For example, the Bodega Pub boasts a list of 400 beers and gets a 4.5 on Beer Advocate. But, Turtle Stack is a brewpub and that deserves special consideration in my book. It’s one of two in La Crosse (Pearl Street is kind of on the north edge of town). Turtle Stack is small; about 50 seats & stools total. I tend to be a hop-head and they had one IPA on my visit. No food, but a food truck out front. Occasional live music. It’s across the street from the convention center, so after you’re done with booth duty or whatever at the convention center – head on over to Turtle Stack to unwind.
