South Philadelphia Taproom and Brew Beer Boutique are co-owned and located just across the street from each another. SPTR is a craft beer bar, and @Brew is a combination coffee house and craft beer boutique. The neighborhood is rather sparse of hot spots and off the beaten path, so I wouldn't foresee myself walking to this area. However, after hearing enough good things about this duo, I decided to drive over for a visit. Overall, I thought it was worth the trip this binary store/bar.

Enter SPTR through a concave corner entrance, and the 12 chair laminated-top bar is straight ahead. Outside there are a few sidewalk tables. Large trellised windows and extensive interior woodwork create the feel of an English public house. Beyond the orange brick wall there is a split level back room with more dining tables. The bar has 14 taps of mostly regional bold craft beers, and a carefully selected bottled, though a little pricey. I wish sampler flights were an option. The food menu is better than average, definitely not standard pub fare. This place gets crowded on weekend nights, and the service is average. Overall I enjoyed my visit, but there is some tough competition in Philly.
