This area of Old City Philly has many interesting places to drink and dine within easy walking distance. Metered parking can be challenging, and there are several pay decks in the area. Three locations under the same ownership, Eulogy, Beneluxx and Bierstube, offer a great variety of cuisine and craft brews. Eulogy is conveniently located on 2nd & Chestnut, and features an incredible offering of over 400 bottled beers, mostly Belgian ales. They also have about 18 beers on tap, a mix of American crafts and European selects. Their vast selection is guaranteed to offer something tried and true, or new and rare, making them one of Philly's great beer bars. Eulogy is a rather small, narrow building with dark orange walls. Downstairs they have a 15 chair bar and a couple tables. Upstairs is more space with several dining tables and a small second bar. The place is often crowded, so finding a spot at the bar to enjoy a rare beer is a special treat. The bartenders are smart and efficient. Whenever I visit Philly, this is one of my favorite areas to explore, and Eulogy is an essential pub-crawl destination.

Eulogy is my favourite - the beer selection is outstanding (usually 15-20 different Belgians / Germans / Crafts on draught) as well as something like 200 or 300 different bottles. The staff are excellent - Dave is excellent behind the bar, and knows the perfect beer for any taste. You can literally walk in, and say "I'm in the mood for La Chouffe, but with a bit more spice, and voila, out comes the perfect suggestion. The moules with the Dijon sauce is a top 3 dish on the planet, not to be missed. Spent many lunches, dinners, drinking sessions, and a couple of post 6 Nations tournaments here - absolutely cannot go wrong.

On Saturday, Aug. 15th, we embarked on a LONG beer day in Philly. See if you can follow our trip on the map! Eulogy was a non-planned trip. We walked past and look at the beer list and couldn't pass it up! Tons of amazing beers. We popped in to split a pint and a couple samples. The place is small downstairs when you first walk in, but it looked like there was seating upstairs as well... We are planning our second beer crawl in Philly based around this bar! After a recent trip to Philly and many hours in this bar, this is now my favorite beer bar in the United States. It has an excellent selection of Belgian style beers, as well as many other great tasting beers. The bartender was knowledgeable, and happy to aid in selection. If you are a fan of Belgian Beer and nice neighborhood bars, traveling to Philly to go to Eulogy, alone, is worth it (and I flew in from Arizona). I will definitely be going back.
