Boone North Carolina is nestled in the mountains in the north part of the state. It makes for a nice day trip to visit the area and Boone's two brewpubs. Lost Province is located in a one-story brown brick building with their rectangular sign over the front entrance. On the side of the building is a small outdoor patio area with a few tables. This is a nice area with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. Parking is free along the street and there are pay lots nearby. The interior is concrete floor with a high ceiling, allowing for loud acoustics, and there is steady background music playing. The left wall is an impressive hillside stucco mural. There are many wood tables and straight ahead is their arcing 16-stool concrete bar. Upstairs is more seating. To the left of the bar is a beautiful large copper wood-fired pizza oven. Sitting at the bar, you'll feel its warmth and as you gaze at the mesmerizing campfire inside. The pizza looks, smells, and tastes delicious. Additionally the kitchen offers a variety of appetizers, salads, a few sandwiches and gourmet mac & cheese. Behind the bar are windows that look into their brewhouse with stainless steel tanks on either side. A chalkboard overhead lists the 10 house brews on tap. These are very good, and I was impressed with their variety of pale ales, and their imperial IPA was just perfect. The place had a friendly, social atmosphere, with a nice decor. The service is welcoming and the kitchen is fast. I highly recommend a visit!
