As of 2014, Tuscaloosa is home to two breweries - Black Warrior and Druid City. Black Warrior is named after one of Alabama's rivers. It is located along a strip of several small shops. Parking is free along the street, and they have a couple of metal tables along the front sidewalk. The building is 2-story brick with large windows, and their red and black sign is overhead on a wooden facade. Inside the place has several dining tables and booths on both sides and further back is their 15-chair wooden bar. Behind the bar is a chalkboards listing their beer and a row of mirror backed tap handles. There is a television for sports. The place is long and narrow with brick walls, and past the bar is the brewery itself. They have stainless steel brewing vessels in the back and a row of midsize stainless steel fermenters in the center. Upstairs is a game room and a couple tables and several games of darts, shuffleboard, and corn hole. The place has a fun and lively atmosphere. They do not have a kitchen, but they do sell hummus and you are welcome to bring in your own food. The service is inexperienced, but adequate and cordial. This brewpub has a good variety 9 house beers on tap, as well as a guest cider. These are typically available by pint, and unfortunately they do not offer sampler flights, but they do offer half-pint pours. My favorites were their Strawberry Blonde, Imperial IPA, and Belgian Red Rye. The beer is delicious and they are not afraid to experiment with new flavors.
