I went to Galaxy Brewing on their first full night of service (8/30/2013). This brewery has been in the works for a couple of years, so it was exciting to see it finally come to fruition. I've heard that the owner is the former brewer at Roosterfish (plus his dad), so I was excited to see his interpretation of how a brew pub should be operated.

Obviously, being the first night of service, things were a bit hectic. The bar was a decent size, but definitely would have been better if it was 50% longer because it was tough to get a drink. The bartenders and servers were still learning their way through things, but for the first night of service and such a large crowd, I think it was understandable.

The one big issue I had was that there was no beer list visibly displayed anywhere near the bar. So, I had to wait in line, ask for the beer list, wait for the bartender to dig one up, and then wait in line all over again once I knew what I wanted (needless to say, I wasn't giving up that beer list from then on).

The 2nd major issue was the volume in the restaurant. There was no sound proofing on the ceiling, so it sounded like people were screaming in my ear all night (they actually were, because they had to). Sound-proofing should certainly be their next upgrade.

They serve beers in tasting sizes (4oz?), plus 10oz or 16oz options. The belgian brown ale (Brun) was good, but rather strong. The ESB called Beer #42 and the Galactic Silk (a smooth, and unique Nitrogenated Ale) were also good. None of them were exceptional though - part of me thinks they're trying to make too many different beers too soon (Roosterfish is notorious for having a ton of beers on tap).

I'd like to see how this place evolves once they have a chance to work the kinks out.
