I was recently moaning to some of my Virginia friends about the sad state of affairs in my area of Maryland, as far as stores having decent selections of craft beers. When I found beermapping.com today the first thing I did was look up what was listed in my immediate vicinity and I was astounded to find Quench within a mile of my house, somehow unnoticed for the last year or more. Tonight was Friday and they were running their Beer and Wine tasting with several excellent craft brews and some wines (I left wine tasting for my wife). The store is large with a deli and a large beer and wine selection. I was able to find most of what I would expect to find at our local beer and wine stores at comparable prices, but spent most of an hour exploring the many additional beer and wine varieties and brands I have not seen elsewhere in the area. There were some fairly pricey selections but well balanced with more economical, if less exciting conventional choices.

The most exciting news was the expansion to include a new tap room in the next month (August 2013) with 20 taps and growlers for take home (I was told initially 32 oz growlers but 64 oz also planned). I am looking forward to see what craft beers they will have on tap and I expect I will be visiting fairly often now that I have discovered this local wonder.
