We stopped in for a late lunch and some beer sampling. They have six regular beers. When we were there they had a honey wheat, blonde lager, amber ale, IPA, brown ale, and an oatmeal stout. The brown ale was delicious. My favorite, and a 2014 GABF winner, was their oatmeal stout. A sampler is $7.50 for a flight of six four-ounce beers. They also have 10 and 16 ounce beers; growlers and half-growlers as well as kegs. The food was excellent, I had the green Chile and bacon macaroni and cheese. The service was excellent and while the focus of this place is the restaurant but they don’t slack off on the beer. They have a six barrel system viewable from the restaurant and casks of beer aging just outside the brewing section of the restaurant. The brewer was friendly and took some time to talk to me about their brewery and some of their challenges.

I was at the Santa Fe plaza location for this trip. The place seemed more like a restaurant than a bar/brewpub. We had some chips and salsa, but didn't eat there.

I was able to get a beer sampler, which always pleases me at this type of place. All the beers were fair: pilsner, american wheat, amber, nut brown and stout. The special beer was an organic Scotch ale that tasted more like a strong brown ale. The stout was quite good, with a great mouthfeel and pleasant roast.

More of a restaurant with a selection of craft beers than a brewpub per se, Blue Corn Cafe does have a nice selection of brews.
One of the best attributes of the the Cafe however, is its location. The high traffic plaza in Santa Fe plays a roll in the popularity of this little bar and from the street, its not hard to find.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, the place itself resembles a restaurant with a nice little bar tucked away on one end, so one would expect that the food and service would outweigh the nice, affable beer. Surprise.
Not that any of it was terrible, but I was expecting some lovely eats and service, but it took so long to bring out the food that I was almost late for the wedding I was going to, not to mention it was overpriced compared to anything I had on my I-25 trip.

10/2/09 Very good beer, good food, and good location-near the mall and the movie theater. Of course, there is another location near the Santa Fe plaza. Plenty of parking, family friendly, no smoking; basically a restaurant with a bar. This is owned by the same group that has Sleeping Dog & Chama River, and some of their beers are shared. While I have never seen any guest taps, and sometimes there is only one special, the beer is always very good quality with no flaws. Sometimes there are three specials available, such as an unfiltered honey wheat or imperial wit. As I have stated in another Santa Fe review, Second Street is my local, but I never hesitate to enjoy beer and food after a movie or shopping when in the area.
