Mac's Tavern is a modern American pub. It was opened in 2010 by a group of owners that include Kaitlin and Rob McElhenny, stars (as Dee and Mac) of the cable comedy "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Although this place is clearly connected to IASIP, there is no in-your-face advertisement. In fact, all I saw were a couple cast photos and a single black and white sketch over the bar. This small pub is dominated by the 23 chair wooden bar. There are several dining tables along the walls, and a couple outdoor tables along the sidewalk. The tavern has good hard rock background music, and is family friendly during daylight hours. Several flat screen televisions create the feel of a sports bar. There are 18 taps of typical bar standards and tame regional craft brews. There are also about 80 bottles of varied national craft beers. The food is well executed pub fare. Located on Market Street near Penn's Landing, the location is great. This area of Old City Philly has many interesting places to drink and dine within easy walking distance. Metered parking can be challenging, and there are several pay decks in the area.
