As of summer 2012, Iron Hill has 9 brewpubs in the DE-PA-NJ tri-state area. I am impressed this chain hasn't lost touch with its craft microbrewery roots, because the brewmasters each have autonomy to constantly invent bold new recipes. I almost always find a new brew when I go into any Iron Hill, and I have tasted over 300 different Iron Hill beers over the past several years! Their selection has excellent variety, and they usually have 12+ well-crafted beers on tap. I highly recommend visiting any Iron Hill brewpub to try a sampler!

The Chestnut Hill Philadelphia, PA location is an excellent 9th member of the franchise. There are plenty of small shops along Germantown Ave in this area. Turn into the alley adjacent to the restaurant and there is a free dedicated parking lot in back. There is no patio, but large glass doors open to the street from the bar area to create an open cafe atmosphere. Like most Iron Hill locations, there are similar architectural design elements with dark wood and earth tone colors, and separate rooms for dining and the bar area. They have a long 17 chair wooden bar, and past the bar the small brewhouse with its stainless steel vessels is enclosed in a glass windowed room. When I visited, they had 5 regular beers plus 11 seasonals on tap. The menu has a nice variety of flavorful entrees, and the service was excellent.
