Horace Shellhammer's Bar and Restaurant is a friendly neighborhood tavern, with a slightly upscale atmosphere. Warm lighting and flame candles, with subdued brown, green and black decor creates an inviting and cozy ambience. The carpentry is impressive - wooden bar, cabinets, divides, flooring and tables. There is a 20-chair bar, which is fairly popular and often crowded. They have 13 taps and about 40 bottles of national craft brews, and I often find a new seasonal beer I haven't had before. The service is friendly and the food is good. Shellhammer's is conveniently located in University plaza near I-95, and has ample parking. Nice place to stop for a meal and craft beer.
