Vas Foremost is a good store, the selection is great and they often have beers that have already been sold out in other places. I check here when seasonals have been released and they might not last long. Usually Vas Foremost gets them and has them for a few days after Binny's has already run out.

Great store with plenty of parking around the side. Also close to a good brewpub now! Really close to the California blue line stop too.

In 2009 Foremost expanded their coolers to add to their extensive beer selection. The wall straight back when you walk in is all bombers/750s/import singles. I'd estimate about 300+ beers available now. From the outside you wouldn't expect such a great selection, but it has been steadily improving for years. Inside it's your typical tile floors, florescent lights and wood paneling, but the beer selection is unparalleled in the area (Logan Sq., Wicker Park, Bucktown). Prices are a $1-2 higher on some things, more of a convenience charge I would say.

They have Daisy Cutter, several FFF bombers, several Founders, full Goose Island reserve line, Metropolitan x3, Shipyard, Southampton, Bells, Port/Lost Abbey, and many others. The Belgian selection is extensive with about 5 traditional lambics: Cantillon x2, Hanssens, Cuvee Rene, and Kriek De Ranke. Trappists include Rochefort x3, Orval, St. Bernardus. A small rack of glassware is in the aisle near the back corner.

Checkout is always friendly, and they have checked stock in the back before. Above the coolers they have informative signs about the various beer styles. This small independent shop is doing an exemplary job of bringing craft beer to Logan Square. Right down the street from Revolution Brewing, so hit both in one trip!

(Edited in August of 2009 to reflect changes in beer over the past year.) They have doubled the beer cooler space and this place is pretty damned good for a beer store. I rarely need to go anywhere else for bottles.

Foremost is right at the California Blue line stop. It looks pretty much like any other liquor store from the outside, but when you get inside and walk to the coolers in the back you might possibly be surprised.

The beer selection isn't outrageous or anything. But it is solid for a normal liquor store. They have a decent selection of 22s (Lagunitas, Two Bros, Three Floyds) and their sixer selection is pretty vast as well.

I haven't stopped with my visits to Sam's or to West Lakeview, but I do stop by this Foremost every so often since it is so close to my neighborhood.
